A team of Saudi specialists from King Abdulaziz University and the Al-Jouf Health Cluster has successfully performed two complex pediatric cardiac catheterization procedures, marking a significant step forward in healthcare services for the Al-Jouf region.
The operations were conducted at King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital in Al-Jouf, where the team treated two young girls with congenital heart defects. The first procedure closed an atrial septal defect (ASD), while the second treated a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), both requiring exceptional precision and advanced expertise.
The King Abdulaziz University team was led by Professor Ahmad Saeed Azhar and Dr. Zaher Faisal Zaher, while the local Al-Jouf Health Cluster team was led by Dr. Ali Al-Tulhi, with Dr. Sami Mahjoub, Consultant in Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia, providing specialized support.
This success also marks the official launch of a dedicated pediatric cardiac catheterization program in Al-Jouf, providing advanced care closer to home, easing the burden on families who previously had to travel long distances for treatment, and underscoring the Kingdom’s commitment to delivering world-class healthcare nationwide
